Lanita Thanks so much for your generous offer. My grandfather Charles O NUTTER married my grandmother Lydia Ruanna SALMON December 1900 - they had 3 girls - and he deserted the family and she divorced him in 1914. I have never found a census on this family. They lived in Daviess county. Lydia married again to William Daniel England in 1914 and they had one girl and I have never found them on a census. Any help you may be able to offer would be greatly appreciated. Because my busy schedule doesn't seem too busy this week, I will to do a lookup on the Census for anywhere in the U.S. for the years they had census for those of you who do not have access to the census. I have the subscription for the census images at ancestry.com and will submit what they have listed. If you want to take me up on this offer, please submit 1 SURNAME, and no more than 2 separate individuals and the year you need the MOST!! Please put your request on the List, as I will report on the List for others who might be interested. [If time allows, I will look at the other census for the same individual[s] for whom you are looking.] My offer will end on Friday for this opportunity. Okay, who needs my help? This tip was on ancestry.com's newletter today. I found it very good and thought others would too. I am not affiliated with them except by membership, but some of the articles are very good on the newsletter and well worth the subscription. Ancestry Quick Tip Check Multiple Days of Newspapers for Obituaries by Rick Minerd When you check newspapers for obituaries, never stop the search at the first obituary for the person. Check the next day or two after the original obit appeared for corrections. Prior to the electronic age, a lot of obits were reported to the newspapers over the phone or handwritten and turned in--often with mistakes that were corrected after the initial obituary was printed. For example, my sister was listed as "Mrs. Stan Jones" instead of "Mrs. Dan Jones" in a first obit. In recent years, I've also noticed our local paper will carry an obituary one day and the next day when more time has been spent making arrangements the obituary will be supplemented with a picture of the deceased. I have been researching the Davis's for awhile. I took a break for awhile and I just started getting back into it. I am stuck on a Jonathan Davis. I can go back to a William M. Davis who is my 4th great grandfather. He is buried in Crudgington Cemetery in Dallas County MO. On his tombstone it says, "Eldest Son Of Jonathan Davis" and that all I know about Jonathan. William M. Davis was born March 7th 1824 in TN. (I don't know where in TN). He died Aug. 6th 1860 in Dallas Co., MO. He married Margaret Montgomery abt. 1845 in Polk or Dallas Co., MO. They had six children. Green L., John A., Sarah Elizabeth, Carrol Mathew, William Beverly (my line) and Columbus Davis. I don't know if William M. had any siblings and I don't know who his mother and father are except for the name "Jonathan". Or anything else. This is where I am stuck. I can not go back any further. I also have a cousin here in MO that I share info with. Her N! ame is Debbie Mueller. She listed all the descenants on Ancestry.com world tree. You should be able to bring it up by searching for William M. Davis, born March 7th 1824-- Aug. 6th 1860, Dallas Co. MO. I would love to share info with you. If it is easier for you to write me at my email address. It is [email protected] Thanks Nicki and I hope to hear back from you soon.-Bruce
