Then I got specific dob/dom/dod from Leni Howe. I don't have much more than this: Alexander HOOVER BIRTH: Mar 1870, Dallas Co., MO DEATH: 20 Jan 1924, Tulare Co., CA Father: James Willoughby HOOVER Mother: Nancy Caroline ROBINSON Family 1: Julia Melvina HOWE MARRIAGE: 24 Nov 1905, Dallas Co., MO I also originally got the info on Julia from Leni, who has her dob as 1880. "Dallas County, Missouri, History", page 314, has her name "Malvina". The Tulare Co., CAGenWeb page at: http://www.cagenweb.com/cpl/tulare/ has a lot of good raw data, but no search engine so it takes forever to schlep through it all. (Some of my distant Swift kin ended up there too so I've been to that site quite a bit.) It has over 97000 obits indexed and a bunch of Hoovers are listed here: http://www.cagenweb.com/cpl/tulare/tcobithohz.htm ... but alas, no Alexander, and no Hoover dieing in 1924.. There is a Julia whose age is about right but the wrong middle initial: HOOVER JULIA T. (MRS) (age) 66, 1943 AUG. 5 but the 1910 census at: http://www.cagenweb.com/cpl/tulare/tulcen1910e225.htm shows this Julia as the wife of a W. K. Hoover, born in KS with parents born in Ohio, so that's not our bunch. It might be worth seeing if Alexander shows up in the 1920 Tulare Co. census. Maybe he died there but his residence was in a nearby county. Coincidentally, some of Columbus Madison "Lum" and Safronia "Frona" Ann (Brundridge) Hoover's children were in Tulare Co. "Lum" was the son of James Bryant Hoover and his second wife, Martha Jane Maddux, making him Alexander's uncle (half-uncle?). Lum moved to Fresno and died there in 1959; Tulare Co. is close by. --gary
