Walter married Verna Hoover who was born August 9, 1898, in Missouri, and died May 4, 1990, in Fresno, California. Parents of Walter Pike: Ransom Harris Pike (1858-1926) and Mary Sabella Adams (1858-1943). Parents of Verna Hoover: Columbus Madison Hoover (1872-1959) and Safronia Ann Brundridge (1871-1952). Source: Fresno Bee, May 26, 1959: Funeral services for Walter L. Pike, 78, of 511 Shields Avenue will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday in the chapel of the Lisle Funeral Home. Pike died yesterday in a Fresno hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was a native of Missouri and had resided in Fresno County for 40 years. He was a packinghouse manager until 1936, when he moved into Fresno and became a stock market investor. He is survived by his widow, Verna, a son, Lee A., of San Leandro, Alameda County; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred A. Hobbs, of Fresno, and four sisters: Mrs. Hattie Hitz, of Ontario, Los Angeles County; Mrs. Beulah Nelson of Washington State; Mrs. Hattie Hitz of Ontario, San Bernardino County; Mrs. Messie Perrin and Mrs. Myrtle Agee of Missouri. Burial will be in the Mendocino Cemetery. Rick Gregg
