    3. This is interesting site involving the Frisco RR. St Louis San Francisco Railroad never made it to California, its many employees affectionatly called it THE FRISCO. Even the president of the railroad went along and the FRISCO name stuck. This site emphasizes the workers, not the machines and their history It's hard to check early railroad history, if you're more interested in the workers, rather than the lines, tracks. schedules. or make of engine. I'm tracking down the history of one ancestor who worked on the Illinois Central in 1870s and 1880s. The official pension site most people send is worthless, unless your ancestor worked in the 1930s. The 19th century story is scattered or lost and is not covered by the official pension site. My g-grandfather Z. L. Slavens was involved in the 70 yrs RR "Nightmare" that Dallas Co. had to endure. My other g-grandfather worked as a conductor on the ICRR in Iowa. Here's the site on the Frisco RR or ST Louis San Francisco RR http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~veregge/index.html
