Hi folks, RootsWeb email list owners have a page where they can specify certain settings for the list they own. One of these settings is the number of "bounces" required before someone is automatically unsubscribed from the list. For MODALLAS-L I have this number set to 16, the maximum possible. This means that after the RootsWeb server fails to deliver 16 posts to you, you will be automatically unsubscribed. Sometimes this happens because the subscriber has changed email addresses and the old one is no longer valid, and it comes back "User unknown". Other times this happens because the subscriber has an ISP that sets a quota on the size of the email box, and it is full. So if you have this sort of service, remember that if you do not read your email, and your email box exceeds your quota, you are likely to be unsubscribed from RootsWeb email lists. Today, two people were unsub'ed from MODALLAS-L: phancock@oio.net and grandadnut@webtv.net If any of you know who these people are and you can contact them, please tell them what happened. thanks, -- Gary Swift
