    3. Does anyone have information on George C. Hill, born about 1884, and died 1947 in Springfield, MO? He married Suffrona "Frona" Lopeman whose obit says they had one son and six daughters. Buried next to her in Greenlawn cemetery in Springfield is Junior G. Hill, 6 Apr 1915 - 2 Feb 1925. I would like to know who George C. Hill's parents were and data on the children. thanks, -- Gary Swift

    3. Recently there has been discussion about Alexander Hill, b. 1818 in Missouri Territory and died in Dallas County, MO. He married Lucinda Edmisson/Edmondson. The 1850 Dallas County Census shows several Hill families; including: 1. Alexander Hill, 32, MO Lucinda, 28,TN Darcus, 10, MO Melissa, 5, MO Washington, 5, MO Clemantine, 1, MO Izella, 1, MO 2. Elizabeth Hill, 50, NC Catharine, 23, KY Elijah, 14, MO James H., 8, MO 3. John Hill, 30, MO Sarah, 26,IL George, 6, MO Mary E., 2,MO Charles, 5/12, MO 4. Jacob Hill, 19, MO Margret, 19, TN 5. George H. Hill, 31, MO Patsy, 23, TN Martha J., 2, MO Francis M., 3/12, MO 6. Louis Hill, 24, MO Lettice, 28, TN John H., 11/12, MO Living with the family was John Gardner, 69,SC, Lettice Gardner, 68, SC, and Nancy Gardner, 30,KY The thing that is striking about these six families is that each of the heads of household were born in Missouri, with the exception of Elizabeth whose children were born in Missouri. Were any of these siblings of Alexander Hill? Or are there other family groupings independent of Alexander? Sarah Thompson

It was formerly known as teh Gaunt Mill and the Bramwell Mill. A map shows that this was due west of the Alexander Hill property where the Hill Cemetery is now located. "Dallas Co. So they let her choose where she wanted to be buried, and she chose a spot which became the Hill Cemetery. Unfortunately, the public records of Dallas Co. were destroyed in the 1860s with three separate burnings of the county courthouse. The local newspaper, the Buffalo Reflex, was founded in 1869, I believe. My suggestion is that you check Greene County, Missouri. The big city there, Springfield, had a newspaper and did sometimes report deaths in adjacent counties. Also, I am sending a copy of your e-mail, and my response, to the Dallas Co. list. There are CRAWFORD researchers who hopefully can assist you. Linda Fowler CRAWFORD, for example, is a fervant genealogist and much more knowledgable than I. 3. Rick et al, I realized as soon as I hit the SEND button that I had erred about the burial place of Sarah WOLLARD. Sorry. I subscribe to this list from my workplace (shame, shame) and my genealogy program and most of my files are at home. As any good genealogist would do, I carry a pedigree chart with me wherever I go, but it doesn't have everything I need, unfortunately. I was going through some pictures Monday night and found a wonderful picture of my mother and her parents and siblings in front of the house in March where she was born. It stands just above the pasture where the Moses G Bennett cemetary is located. Mom was about 5 in the picture. It's so great to have a legacy of these kinds of things.
