It says: The land on which the Berry family cemetery is located was originally homesteaded by Dr. Fugate Berry around 1860. It was not until 1919 that the cemetery came into use. The first person to be put there was a small daughter of Vincent Fugate and Stella Rosella Berry who departed this life November 12, 1919. At the present time, 1973, they have laid eight to rest at the Berry home cemetery. No trust fund has been started to this date. The cemetery is kept in good condition by the family. - Submitted by Mrs. Byrl Berry Re: the obituary - yes, I have seen the microfilm of the Buffalo Reflex newspaper at the Buffalo library. There are many rolls. Rick Gregg

Newt, as he was called, was Henry Thomas SCOTT's father. Henry's mother was Eliza Ann BOX who died February 21, 1868. Henry had two sisters: Sarah Alice and Malisa Ann "Lucy" - both of these women married men whose last name was SMART. If you want more info. on any of this family, I will be happy to help you. 1. probate files
    2. Millers
    3. Rick, Sorry, misunderstood... Are these files at the courthouse, or at the Historical Society? I would most likely drive to Buffalo (parents live at Bolivar), so what are the hours they're open, and where would I go to see papers for myself? Won't drive over there for a while, we in Wichita are in the middle of an ice storm and getting 4 inches of ice. Lanita

These are not obituaries but the files may "contain wills or intestate papers which name heirs". "Some of the files have little information of a genealogical nature". To see what contents are in the files you will need to contact: Dallas County Historical Society, Inc. P. O. Box 594 Buffalo, Missouri 65622 Rick Gregg

Thanks, Barbara Hello Barbara - First, you may already know (but in case you don't) Springfield is in Greene County, not Dallas County. Second, you may already know (but, again, in case you don't) there is no 1890 federal census. It seems virtually the whole country's 1890 census went up in flames in D.C. once upon a time. There is an 1890 Special Federal Census of Union Veterans & Widows which survives. I do not find the surnames of either CHUNN or CHUM in the index. The book I have includes Christian, Dade, Dallas, Polk and Taney counties. Rick Gregg
