    2. Margaret A. Maulin
    3. Sherry, the directions Nancy gave from the Dallas County Cemetery Book were correct when the book was published in 1996. U. S. Highway 65 has been relocated since then. I will go to MO Dept of Transportation Office this week and get a new county map to try to give you accurate directions. Margaret in Springfield, MO.

    3. P.S. There is a site where the ENTIRE Missouri census records are coming online. (From 1830 through 1880.) This is being generously contributed by Ed and Sandy Mackley, at their own expense (for purchasing the microfilms) and their own labor. The site is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mackley/ There you will see a link to Census Images. A while back I sent a message that the 1840 Polk Co. census was there, and I just checked to see that the 1850 Dallas Co. cenus is now there! These are scans of the original census images, and there are no indices, so it takes a while to go through them to find the records that might interest you. But this is a tremendously valuable resource. --gary

    3. Rick Gregg writes: > As for the 1850 census, I don't have any info. on that. Try contacting > Gary Swift, site co-ordinator for Dallas Co. Gary knows everything. Well, I wouldn't say that, Rick! :-) The site for the 1850 online census is: ftp://ftp.us-census.org/pub/usgenweb/census/mo/dallas/1850/ There is a link to it on the Dallas Co. MOGenWeb home page, http://www.rootsweb.com/~modallas/ under the link to The MOGenWeb Census Project. However, that is wrong and I will be moving the link to the 1850 Dallas Co. census. It is not actually part of the USGenWeb or MOGenWeb Census project. It is part of a group that calls itself USGenNet. So if you are looking for census records you know are online, and you're not finding them under the USGenWeb Census Project, that might explain it. I'm not sure about all the details, but some time ago, there was a rift within the USGenWeb project about the census project, and so some people split off and started their own. Or something like that. Anyway, this has created all sorts of confusion among census transcribers, genealogists like yourselves using the web, and site coordinators like myself. It wouldn't surprise me if the submitter thought she was contributing to the USGenWeb. So bookmark the link! Meanwhile I'll see if I can convince the transcriber to *also* submit it to the USGenWeb Census project so it will be easier to find. --gary

Anyone interested in receiving a copy please call Mary Younger (417) 993-0723" I called Mary Younger - a very nice woman. She informed me the estimated cost of the book is $30. Do you live in Dallas County or just researching family there. Becky ======================================= Hello Becky - "Teachers of Dallas County" is available from: Dallas County Historical Society, Inc. P. O. Box 594 Buffalo, MO 65622 It's a pretty thick book (over 200 pages). I bought mine from them at Buffalo. I don't know what it would cost to mail. I don't live in Dallas Co. I was born in Dallas Co. near Center Point Church. I attended first grade at Charity School. Thereafter, our family relocated to California. I go back to Dallas Co. twice a year to visit my Dad and other relatives. I'll be going on May 20- May 31 this spring and once again in October. Do you live in Dallas Co.? Did you grow up there? You mentioned the "Round Store". My grandfather (my Mom's father) O. K. Powell was a barber at the Round Store on Saturdays charging 25 cents for a hair cut and 15 cents for a shave. There is a picture of the Round Store in "Reflexions II" on page 42. There is also a picture on page 158 of "Dallas County, Mo. History". Ransom H. Pike was the postmaster of the March post office being appointed October 4, 1906. Ransom Pike also ran a grocery store out of the Round Store for a period of time. Really enjoyed hearing from you. 1. Help for a lookup pleeeze?
    2. Bill & Dorothy Casler
    3. Would someone be kind enough to do a lookup for me for a Dallas Co. death.** Here is my problem.... in the 1850 Dallas Co. Mortality list it has this information about William Callison: Callison, William 28y, male, married, OH, farmer, "Infl. Brain". I believe the age of William is incorrect. I have found his wife, Elizabeth in the Dallas Co. MO. 1870 census with just her children. The oldest child is Collberd age 15. William would have been only 13 when he fathered this child if we go by the above age. If anyone can help with this I would be very very happy as it would finally join my family together. Callison/Noland: Born May 20, 1863, died March 6, 1973. In 1882 she married John H. Callison, who died at an early age. In 1902 she married John Noland. She was buried at Mission Ridge Cemetery, Urbana, Mo." "107 years, 1 month, 21 days - Matilda Jane [Callison] Sweaney, born November 12, 1819 in Illinois, died January 3, 1927 near Cabool, Mo. and buried there. Her husband, John Sweaney, age 89, died in Dallas county in 1900, and Mrs. Sweaney then lived with her two sons, John and William Sweaney, at their home northeast of Buffalo until about 1925 when they moved to Cabool, Mo." From my personal data: Joella Margaret Atteberry married Bill Callison on March 18, 1951; two children: Valerie Jo (1952) and Marty Bill (1953). Some of the Atteberry girls will probably be attending the McGee reunion in Dallas Co. on May 26th this year. I will be attending. Rick Gregg

    3. If you are looking for Kirk Chapel Cemetery, take 32 east from Bolivar, go north through Buffalo and get on 73 headed north, at Tunas go east on D about 4 miles to Lead Mine, go south on T about 2 miles. Before you cross Niangua Creek there is a dirt road going north (In the 1993 Plat book, it looks like T-53). The church and cemetery are on that road. I have not been there but am looking at the Dallas County map I got from the Missouri Highway Department in Springfield. Margaret in Springfield

I just checked and it does find Kirk Cemetery. On the result page click on Kirk Cemetery to get access to links to maps and even an aerial photo. 3. Hi, Since I am new on this list, I'd thought I'd mention the surnames that I am researching. Those who were in Dade and Dallas Counties were siblings of my ggggrandparents, Welcome K. BENNETT (1820-1860) and Elizabeth "Betsy" STOGSDILL (1825-aft. 1880). So, I am researching on that line: COUCH, STOGSDILL/STOCKSTILL/STOGSDALE, BENNETT, I also have connections to: TAYLOR, BEASON, JUSTICE also found in both Counties. All of the above surnames had kin that moved back to Oregon County, MO. If you find that you have a connection to that county also, I do have the census for 1850-1900, the marriage listings found in the county marriage books for 1845-1890, as well as the cemetery book. Will be glad to do lookups. Lanita Sconce Miller Wichita
