Have any of you wanting a local researcher considered using the research by mail available through the MO State Archives? It's slow, but the price is right. Go to your favorite search engine. Type in "Missouri State Archives" It will take you to their site. There is a form you can download and send in to request various documents. There is also a listing somewhere on their site where you can browse and even download the holdings the archives have for each county. There is about a six week turn-around right now on requests. I believe you can perhaps even e-mail requests to them (which I just always fill out the form they send to me with my documents and send it right back)If some of you feel the folks at the courthouse are not very cooperative, it may be bacause your request would better be served by sending it to the great folks at the archives. My attitude is that's it's been there several hundred yrs - I certainly don't need to get in a hurry to get things. I'm ! more than willing to put up the wait.
