Hello Everyone, I have found a researcher in Springfield (Greene Co) who does research in Dade (and Lawrence) counties. She is respected, and I've known her for several years. She has published a book using courthouse records, etc. Because I'm not sure of the technicalities of putting her name on here, if you are interested, contact me privately. Regarding Dade County itself -- it doesn't surprise me at all that we are having trouble finding a researcher, though we might want to contact the local high school and see if there is an eager student who might want some extra change. It doesn't really take much skill to do an initial document search at the Courthouse. You ask for the probate record, etc. then make copies. Use the microfilm deed index and get copies. Have you all been there? The population is under 8,000. There are several small, small towns (Greenfield included), that would be a blip on the radar screen if there were an interstate going through, which there is not. I doubt there is more than the one McDonald's in Greenfield. It is absolutely beautiful. I found an online picture using googles images search of Missouri (and one of boarded up street in Greenfield) that reminded me exactly of it...on a couple of bikers website. Had to comment on the size of Greenfield in recent posting. I assume the "8,000" people was a typo. 800 would be more like it. Maybe twice that many in the county, at least about 10 years ago. It is beautiful, as you stated. I was born in the area and have many kin, living and deceased there. But like us all, people have constraints on their time and their resources. They have been wonderfully helpful and kind. Can anyone provide the straight info (maybe from the last census) as to how many people live Greenfield, and also how many Dade. Who was the one interested in SUTHERLAND surname? Would like to compare notes. Helen
