Just to throw my two cents into this debate. My family came from Dade County. I live in California and the chances of my ever getting to go to Greenfield and do research in person is between slim and none. It's just not going to happen. Every bit of information I have found on my family has come from a cousin who lives in the area, or I paid for it. I have spent more than I want to add up on books, census CD's and any source I could run across to dig out information on my family. Some of the money was well spent, such as Dorothy York's books, and a few of the books I got from the genealogy society. Some of it was a shot in the dark that missed. I have stacks of books that contain no information on my family. I spent this money because I had no other option. There is so little information online about Dade County. And requests to the Genealogy Society have gone unanswered. I have not received an answer to one research query I have sent them. I know they are a small group of volunteers, so I am not upset about this. It is just a comment on my personal experience. I am at the point where I have exhausted the resources I can find on my own from California. I would be overjoyed to find someone who could do research for me onsite in Greenfield. Pictures of my ancestors graves, copies of records from the court house; I would pay willingly to get these. If there are no professional researchers in the area, fine, say so. The statement that they do not need to be listed on the web site because we have the Genealogy Society is just not true. Especially for those of us who will never make it to Dade County in our life time. Right now my research is at a stand still because I can't get to the information I need. So if anyone on this list knows of a researcher in the area, please speak up. There are more than a few of us who could use his or her services. Jaime Voss
