Word Ray's father was Samuel A. Wasson. Samuel A's married Ola. Samuel's A's father was George and his mothe was Mary. George's mother was Mariah Louisa Cunningham. I don't know the Wasson she married (second marriage). Mariah had a much younger sister named Fleeta Flora Cunningham who later married William Drayton Wasson in Forsyth County (May 19, 1901). Mariah had eight children in all. The five Wasson children are: Lawton Wasson, Robert Wasson, George S. (my g-g grandfatherJ), Stella Vanessa and William Drayton Wasson. Apparently, Mariah named George afther her brother's (Henry Lawrence Cunningham) son: George Stewart Mariah named William Drayton after her brother. Robert was named after her brother Rober F. If Mariah's sister Fleeta Flora married Mariah's son, William Drayton Wasson, Fleeta would have been 34 while William Drayton Wasson would have been after George S (1849) and was 52 at the time of the wedding. It might have been that William Drayton married a cousin instead of this aunt. The way the family used the same names it is possible that one of Mariah's brothers had a child named Fleeta Flora. \ William Drayton Wasson was an attorney and in 1919 was elected a member of the New Mexico State Legislator. Hope this helps. Gail
