He would have been about 15 years old. His parents were J.R. and Harriet Smithee. The J.R. might stand for John Reuben or Joseph Reuben. H.C. Smithee was born in Arcola and his sister, Dora, was born in Greenfield. If anyone has access to this census, I would greatly appreciate lookups. Thanks!
