Hello Everyone, Lori ([email protected]) has passed to me a memoriam for Elizabeth Ruddick Newkirk, wife of Abraham Taylor Newkirk. She died in 1931. In the memoriam it says "She united with the Quaker or Friends church in early childhood and remained in the faith until her death." I had not heard of any Quaker MMs in the Ozarks or Dade and Lawrence Co specifically, but I could have missed something. I know that some of the Indiana/Ohio transplants to Kansas and Nebraska began large Quaker communities. Were there any Quaker meetings in the area? I am assuming she probably practiced quietly at home and participated in local community and church activities to the extent it was in keeping with her faith. Many of the sizeable Greene Co TN (non German) folks had strong Quaker heritages, but I know for one, that my mother had no idea about hers. Thanks, Janet Hunter
