Our family's oral history also said that McCuel had a daughter named Sallie, but I am beginning to have my doubts. A few years ago, a relative of mine visited the cemetery in CA where McCuel and Sarah are buried. At the time of McCuel's death, the cemetery has a record of payment for 2 grave sites for him and his wife by a "Sallie Sexton." No payments were made at the time of Sarah's death. In a genealogy research book I have it lists Sallie/Sally as a common nickname back then for Sarah. We are starting to think the Sallie we have heard about in relation to McCuel may really be his wife, Sarah Swingle, not his daughter. Is the "Aunt Sally" you mentioned the name your mother-in-law knew McCuel's wife Sarah by?
