    1. Re: [MODADE] Looking for info on Wilkinson & Manis of Greenfield

    3. Dennis, I'm interested in the name of the person you're helping, as this is part of my family. Sherman WILKINSON was married to Luetta E. DANIEL ... I'm sure her father was Chester DANIEL m Eliza Ann MEDLIN. One of Chester's sons was Lyle, who married an Elizabeth - she came to MO on the Orphan Train and there was an article about her in the Greenfield Vedette sometime within the last 10 years. The last I heard, Elizabeth was still alive, and living in Lockwood, Dade Co MO. I've spoken with her several times, and she's a wealth of info - and most likely is in the phone book under either her, or her deceased husband's name. Chester's parents (and Luetta's G'parents) were Peter DANIEL and Mary Cantrell BETHEL ... Chester had many siblings; Sarah Elizabeth m Samuel ROGERS, Green W m Mrs. Millie CARMAN McBRIDE, Blueford m Sophia (Syrha?) DAVIS, Madora/Medora, Octavia E.m James W. VAN LANDINGHAM, Victoria Mary m Calvin COURTNEY, James, Martha "Cumi" m Wm "Bill" Rawley MARTIN and Nancy, as well as John W. (the oldest) who is my G'G-G'fa, and m Martha Ellen HAMPTON. (Chester was the 4th child). John W. DANIEL and Martha Ellen HAMPTON DANIEL had two sons, James and William B. DANIEL ... Wm B. was my G-G'fa. Check out both Dade Co (in Greenfield) and Cedar Co (in Stockton) libraries for info on all ... the newspaper articles in Greenfield are extensive, and the courthouse in Stockton has several marriage license on most, if not all, of the DANIEL tribe above ... I have copies of all I could find, but I have no idea where they are right now ... I've not done geni in years, and my things are put away in some forgotten places, behind a bunch of junk, I'm sure. You'll most likely be able to find death certs on most of them, if you'll check under numerous types spelling (DANIEL and DANIELS), Mrs. so and so DANIEL/S for the women, instead of just their own given names, middle or nick-names instead of first names, and any other weird thing you can think of ... check all counties, instead of the one they've lived in, etc, etc ... I'm not sure, but I think it was Hugh that married Mamie MANIS at one time ... As far as your George MANIS, he too is related to me. George died 8 Feb 1932 while married to Prudence (possibly had other wives prior to her) You'll find his death certificate in Dade Co, MO, cert # 4175 in the State Archives in Jefferson City, MO ... it's also in the Dade Co death cert records given on the list just recently. That's where I got this info from - I'm reading it directly off of a copy of his death cert I just received last Fri. Parents of George were Abijah Anderson "Bije/Bige" MANIS and Hannah BEGLEY ... Abijah died in the Old Confederate's Hospital in Higginsville, MO. My husband and I were there and placed flowers on his gravesite. Among other siblings, George had a sister, Artie Susan MANIS (my G-G'mo) ... Artie Susan married Wm B. DANIEL (above) and had several children, one who was Mary Susan MANIS (my G'mo) m Henry Austin MARTIN (my g;fa) and had four children, one who was my mother. Hope this helps some ... I have quite a bit more, but it's all on paper, as my computer that has the whole program in it, has been sitting at my sons' house for almost two years, waiting for him to fix it so I can get into the program. Taleah WILKINSON can help you considerably with that line ... if you don't know her, or haven't heard from her yet, let me know; she still lives in Greenfield and loves doing geni, especially for her own family. She's my cousin about four times over, I think ... it seems all those families inter-married at that time ... LOL.
