May I suggest that we expand the tradition by buying one or 2 extra flowers or flags, and placing them on some lonely grave who we suspect has no one to honor them? Do it for those who would love to do it themselves. Do it to honor those who have passed, even though we didn't know them. Do it just because those who you know did not have any descendants, still need to be honored by those who still remember. We family historians, know the story of some, that others do not know, or do not care to know. I feel sorry for those who have forgotten. Place a flower or flag to show, that YOU haven't forgotten.
