Range Townships run north and south Range runs east and west The townships are divided into sections. The sections are divided into smaller parcels of land that are numbered, each one being numbered in exactly the same sequence. When I am looking for a piece of land I look first for the Township number. Then I look for the Township range. Then, like reading a map, find where they intersect. Then find the section number within the square.
