    3. If you find your relatives on any of the plats or any other records that you think may have a connection in Greene County, you may find a mountain of ORIGINAL papers at : Greene County Archives & Records Center Office of the County Clerk 1126 Boonville Springfield, MO 65802 Call to get their hours, copies were only a dime when I went. I wanted Dade Co, MO records that had a venue change to Lawrence Co, MO and finally to Greene Co, MO. I had several grandfathers mentioned in them and their index said "charges" so I went thinking they were charged with murder and arson during the Civil War in Dade County, MO. Instead, they were on the JURY in Dade Co, for the ones accused of the crimes. All the accused were acquitted since it occurred during the War. I copied other records also and some were all kinds of loose papers 1x6 or larger, some bound by ribbons at the top. For anyone that can go search the files it would be well worthwhile to go to Springfield at this location. Federal Records should be there also, or somewhere in Springfield. It must be the easiest street in town to find but not much off-street parking. The files, I believe were indexed (computer), and stored in boxes on shelving . I went to the Mount Vernon, MO County Court house as well and found original documents of records and they were very patient about copying them but the cost of copying was very expensive. Sadly the only genealogical society was open only one day a week by a employee of the local newspaper, by appointment. The marriage books are there back to when Lawrence County was a part of Barry County but not on microfilm so you have to go through each original book. So if you are lucky, you might find something before then in the Springfield sources above.
