If there is anyone on this list that subscribes to the Greenfield Vedette newspaper would you please check this week's issue to see if there is anything about a GRIFFIN REUNION IN DADEVILLE, in the last week or so. If there is I would really appreciate a copy/scan or let me know where I can get the information. I would be ever so grateful, Kay Griffin Snow -- KSnow

Hi. I am desc. from a collateral of the Scott family of Dade County - the Jesse and Obediah Scott family. Yes, Scotts, Saters, Hudspeths, etc. are all Monroe County KY area. Previous to that they lived in the Surry NC area, part of which is now Yadkin County, and previous to that they lived up along the James River - west bank primarily in various counties. One of Jesse and Obediah's sisters married a Harris. I'm not sure where it was technically when they settled the land, but when the smoke cleared my Scotts (and the Harris) were on the Tennesee side of the border in Overton County. Their land was on the state line. This part of TN is now Clay county. So my suggestion would be to look over the border into TN. This JOhn Harris was born in North Carolina, but I'm sure he married the Scott gal in TN. One think I do know, this whole bunch pretty well stayed with people they knew thourghout the years - in various locations. Nancy Pf __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? My ancestor is Sarah Hudspeth who was the daughter of Giles & Discretion (Sater) Hudspeth who lived in Dade Co, MO and died there around the time of the Civil War. Sarah and her sister, Nancy married brothers. Sarah married William Harris and Nancy married Benjamin. This HARRIS side of the family lived & died in St Clair and Benton counties, MO. I am stuck in trying to find out where the HARRIS' came from. I believe all of these people may have lived in Monroe Co, KY at one time before moving to Missouri. Sarah and Nancy Hudspeth were both born in North Carolina. Surry Co, most likely. I would appreciate any help, clues, or suggestions if anyone on this list has researched any of these people. The HARRIS family may have some tied to the GLENN family back in North Carolina. Dee Mathews

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CKB.2ACE/1769 Message Board Post: Hi Looking for info on a Stephen Kile (Kyle) b. abt 1860. He was listed as in "idiott" being kept by the county in the 1880 Dade Co., Sac Twp Census. He is listed next to Rachel & Joseph Fanning or Farming. There are alot of "if's" in this research as they are not my direct line and I can not find a hard fact about them, but I would love to put this piece of the puzzle with mine! I believe Stephen's parents to be Hezekiah Kile b. 1803 KY & Eliza ?? b. 1835 Indiana. (Hezekiah's second wife) Hezekiah moved from KY to the Dade area around 1837 and stayed until just a little before 1870 when they moved to Texas. I believe that Hezekiah died just shortly after the move (and maybe Eliza too). Eliza & Stephen are listed in Texas in 1870, but Stephen was back in MO by 1880, so maybe Eliza and/or Stephen came back to be with family. In 1850 Census, Hezekiah is living close to a Solomon Carter. I believe Solomon might be Eliza's father. Hezekiah also have the following children by his first marriage (Nancy Reed/Read) living with him in Dade Co., MO in 1850 & 1860 Census. William b. 1836 KY Joseph b. 1839 MO John b. 1841 Isaac b. 1844 Monroe b. 1847 (1st name could have been James) Mary b. 1849 Hezekiah's first wife might have died in child birth. Any info or connections to any of the above would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks~~Lesley

Hello Everyone, There is a Horton DNA Project underway. I descend from the Martha Horton, sister of William Rankin Horton, father of Isaac Horton who married Nancy Belle York in Dade Co in 1873. (My Martha Horton married Henry Sexton, brother Isaac's mother Elizabeth Sexton). I am looking for male descendants of Isaac and Nancy York who might be interested in participating in the Horton DNA project, which does not have any descendants of our particular line participating. I know there are a couple listed in the phone book for Greenfield. I also am contacting a more distant cousin with direct line male descent from Isaac Horton and Margaret Martin who married in Washington County TN in 1808. I am also copying this email to Dorothy York, as I'm not sure she still subscribes to the Dade County list. Best Regards, Janet Hunter
