Since Martha and Solomon both reportedly died in 1888 during a flu epidemic, I assume they are buried somewhere in Dade Co., MO. Their son was Roland Cline Farthing, b. Aug. 1, 1885. Martha had a son before she married Solomon -- Silas B. Ewing, b. July 1, 1872. More details are in my file online at http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=ewingwilene&id=I0143

Website that took Andrew Mitchell down to James Mitchell and Martha McGregor. I started to run with that and got straightened up in a hurry by others. Having said that, there is a long story on William Mitchell b. 1803. It looks like a possibility that William is a brother to the James who married Winifred Ridley. I am thinking that ALLEN MITCHELL is a brother to James. He used a similar migration pattern through ILLINOIS, Mo, and Texas. Allen lived fairly close to James" son Ela, who was my great grandfather. Allen was born in 1793 in NC, where is unknown.Allen is buried at Eagle Springs Cem about 20 miles east of Gatesville Tx. He was a Mason, and his wife's name was Sarah.

I think I can state who was NOT the ancestors to James M. Mitchell. It is quite clear through census entries, etc. that the James Mitchell (m. Martha McGregor) from Warren co was not the son of James Mitchell and Mary Craig! The Maury Co, TN James Madison Mitchell married Winifred Ridley and remained in the area until about 1860, when he moved to Dade Co, MO to join his brother, William H. Mitchell. He died in 1872. In the 1870 census, you will see a James and Martha, and a James M. and Winifred, in Dade Co, MO. The Warren Co Mitchells had similar given names and birth dates, which is confusing. However, it is possible? that James (Marthas) grandfather was Andrew Mitchell ( Orange Co, NC - not Iredell, NC). ..Allan

I am using these books to help build your Laffoon family file. On a side note: I made it through the 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900 & 1910 census records and more than have of my cemetery records on your line. I found some info. and will hopefully get you a family history file early next week. I use these books on every family file. They give a lot of married names which help me when I am going through cemetery records and see an odd name in the middle of a plot. Hope this all helps. Tammy
