I've been looking for information on that family also. My father was Max Gerald Sallings, born Dec 17,1917. He was the son of Henry and Ruby (Lee) Sallings. My dad's older brother was James Ronald Sallings, and he had a younger brother named Robert. They were born in Lawrence Co. AR near Walnut Ridge in a small town called Portia. They called their dad Henry, but I think his name may have been James Henry. My dad died in 1975, and both of his brothers are dead also. Henry died before I was born (1962), but I'm not sure what year. Ruby died in 1976 or'77. I know my dad had some really old uncles that he called Mont and Babe. I am the 5th of 6 children. I have 4 older brothers and a younger sister. There are many of us here in AR. My dad's younger brother has some descendants in Columbia, SC. I'd like to know something about your grandmother also. Good to hear from you. Hope I was of some help. Let me know if I can help you further. Thanks, Joan Sallings

Do you know if she married an M.A. Jenkins who was born in 1844 in Missouri. I show she also married a Nelson Gabbert. If this is the case, I am related through the Jenkins line as well as the Gabbert line. This is very confusing. Any information that might shed some light on this confusion would be appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from you. V. Sanders [email protected]

Hi, Anisah: Years ago my grandmother told me that the courthouse in Greenfield, Dade Co., had burned and her marriage record would be unavailable. I wrote to the county clerk and received a certified copy of her marriage in 1899 with the message that records from the fire had been saved. The fire occurred in 1863 and the county clerk has marriage and divorce records from 1867. Good luck. Dr. K. Hi...Seems to me that there were some courthouse fires around that period of time. You might save time by getting the tele. No. of the records division and see if they even have it on record. I do know that I had to use a census records rather than the marriage/death/birth record because of a fire. Barb By.

In Pemberton Cemetery in Dade Co. there is a John Marshall listed. Dates are born 3/18/1840, died 10/23/1913. There is a notation that he was a Lt., Co. A, 6th MO Cavalry. There is also a James C. Marshall, born 12/23/1868, died 1/28/1947. Both are in Secion 10 of the cemetery. In the same section there is an Alice Marshall, born 10/29/1875, died 11/16/1956, a Mary Alice Marshall, born 3/21/1882, died 9/19/1902 (daughter of John and ?), a Mary M. Marshall, born 11/29/1848, died 3/21/1937, and a Roy Rainey Marshall, born 3/21/1904, died 2/18/1992 ("The Beav"). No Solomon or Rebecca. In Section 11 there is also a Cytha L. Marshall, born 9/27/1906, died 12/15/1906. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 28, 2002 8:49 AM Subject: [MODADE] Cemetery Lookup? > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Marshall > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CKB.2ACE/1546 > > Message Board Post: > > I would greatly appreciate it if someone has cemetery records for Dade County.
