I would love to have any info you have on Goforth, McMasters, and Ketcherside, as these names are cousins of mine. Nancy--I stand corrected on the look ups. I guess most of what I had asked for they had in the library. The court house people are been very helpful. Dorothy
Are any of you members of the Dade County Genealogical Society? They will some time do look ups for a nominal fee. I believe the Dade Co. Web Page has the internet address. Dorothy
Hi Dorothy, How are you? Yes I am a member of the Society and I did ask for help, and I was willing to pay a fee or even send a donation to the Society . What I needed was the records of Administration / Executor/Inventories etc and other data concerning several Dicus Wills, not the Will itself. I have an index or list of Dade County Court Records, all Dicus surnames . A family researcher sent me the list years ago hoping to save me time in my research. At least I will know which book and page number to look for. That work has already been done. It is just getting there that is so difficult. I was there once back in the '80's but we didn't get to the courthouse. We spent the afternoon with Zelma Hazel Yates at her home going through her records. She was a tremondous help. I really don't think anyone has done a book yet on those Probate /Administration records yet I am still trying to find proof of just who Edward Dicus second wife Mary was. The list does show a record where she rejected Edwards Dicus Will. There are three or four Administration records of a Mary Dicus. Just not sure all are Edward wife Mary or his grandson Edwards wife Mary. Nancy
Carol, I would love any information you might have on the Bell name. Thanks, Jann Okla. City
List of officers, teachers and schollars (sic) My great grandfather was Secretary, I presume that is why he had the minutes. Have more old letters concerning: Tibbetts, Trueblood, Gray, Fort, Berry and more. Carol Cable
I do have the books "The People of Dade Co. MO as found in the Federal Census" 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880.These are abstracts only. But will be happy to do look ups for anyone. I also have these that I will do look up in: Will Books 1 & 2 ; Greenfield, Lockwood and Dadeville Cemetery Books; Dade Co, Births & Deaths 1883-1885; Marriage Records 1863-1867 1867-1873 Nancy Dicus Beck
The "Look Ups" by the Genealogical Society are only for records that have been published in books that they own or those that in the local library. They do not do "court house research" and they evidently do not have a professional researchers listed with the society. I have already asked. I requested a listing of Professional Researchers from Dade County be posted to this list and was told it would not be done, as the Genealogy Society of Dade Co, did look ups . So it would be unnecessary. Most of the State and County Lists I am on, do post lists of Professional Researchers in their areas. I live in Brownsville, Texas but will be going to Dade County sometime in mid June on our way back from my husbands High School Reunion in Illinois. I plan to go to the Dade County Court House for research in Probate files. I am not familiar with Dade County, Missouri so do not know what I will be in for when I get there. If I can be of help I will try. If I am not overwhelmed . Nancy Dicus Beck
Hello, Check out this web page http://www.rootsweb.com/~modade/modade.htm. It has a section regarding look-ups. Hope this helps. Virginia
Last year while in the area, I purchased Plat Maps for Dade Co., Missouri, 1903-1904, from the "Greene County Archive and Records Center", located at: 1126 Booneville; Springfield, MO 65802, They also have copies for 1904 of Greene County; The Springfield City Directory for 1890-1891. As I recall, the price was very reasonable... Like $3.00 each. A Mr. Richard Struckhoff, County Clerk (in the Office), was very helpful and informative. I believe he was the person behind getting these Plat Maps reproduced for posterity and for one, I owe him a big THANK YOU.
Hi List, Ditto. I have been trying to find a researcher from Dade county for months to do some look ups for me. Am willing to pay for the services . Nancy Beck
Hello Everyone. I would be EXTREMELY interested in a response to this. When I was in Greenfield last July, I was so overwhelmed by everything there and in Lawrence Co., (cousins, cemeteries, etc.) that I never had time to follow up on my first foray to the courthouse. By the time I got to Lawrence Co Courthouse (and didn't have to pay $5.00 per query like at Dade Co Courthouse...a BIG point)...I was ready to look for all wives, and some siblings probate related records). So I have about four wives in Dade that I'd love to see the probates for. Thanks all, Janet Hunter
Hi List, I don't live a stones throw away from Dade County anymore. I haven't for 10 years. It's more like 1100 miles and I am sure that it's much farther for a lot of you all. Knowing that it is harder than heck to get look-up request from the society and from what I just learned the courthouse is getting onto the profit from genealogy wagon, we need to band together to help each other. I, as I am sure that many others, would be happy to pay for someone to do some first hand looking for us, IF, it is not too costly and we get results. Until then, if anyone has access to the following, I would really appreciate your help. Are there Plat Maps available for Dade County prior to the 1903-4 Dade County Book? If so, does anyone on this list have access to them? Does anyone have access to the 1870, 1880 and 1890 Dade County census? I am seeking information on property ownership in Earnest Township from 1860 to 1890. Does anyone have knowledge, plats during that period for the township, etc., that they would be willing to share? I would really like to know who owned what in that Township from 1860 to 1890. Does anyone have access to the tax rolls for Dade County during this time period, 1860-1890? How about the church records for the churches found in Section 22 in North Twp and 29 in Earnes Twp?
