    2. Hello Everyone, In checking out the Dade Co website to see if anyone had posted information on the STAMPER family, I ran across a page on the Descendants of John Lack in the Pioneers of Dade Co section. John Lack's folks go back to LAX in Virginia, who are directly related (somehow I can't determine) to Franky Murrell William's family story Lax/Cooper/Murrell families in Virginia. Are any of you out there researchers of this family? Thanks, Janet Hunter

    2. Yes, I have been in touch with Mildred, and told her my findings regarding The Davis family............I have looked for several years for a marriage of Peter and Elizabeth Davis, but never found one...............Then I found this article in Greene County talking about Peter's son, James Cantrell, and in it, it states that Peter was married to Elizabeth,,,Cantrell.......and then with this death certificate, I am inclined to believe that she was Elizabeth Cantrell and not Elizabeth Davis..........I think the first and only place I have seen Davis, is in the Christie Book.........Thank you for your help

    2. Thank you for the information...I have been researching the Cantrell's for quiet awhile.......I thought Nancy was the one that married Stockton, but was not positive....so the information has helped................I came across a writing in a history book and in it states that Peter Cantrell was married to Elizabeth Cantrell, probably written in the late 1800s early 1900's....It says that Peter died in 1874...................I have seen Elizabeth Davis for a long time, So, I sent for one of Peter's children Death Certificate, and I received it yesterday........It states that James T Cantrell's parents were Peter Cantrell and maiden name of mother was CAntrell

    3. Hi, I'm so glad it helped. I still have a long ways to go on the Cantrell line. What I would suggest is to access the Surnames: Cantrell Family Genealogy Forum--Genealogy.com ( The Dade County , Missouri Cantrells ) maybe Google would get you there, or look under descendants of David Davis, Sr. This is one important source of Cantrell history, extensively researched by Mildred Dotterer. I have found other info on them elsewhere, but Mildred's is so well organized and clear. 1. [MODADE] Henry STAMPER md. Frankie GUFFEY 1898
    2. Hello Everyone, I have finally found a marriage for one of the children of Amanda WILLIAMS and Henry Lawson GUFFEY, who were married about 1870 in Dade County Missouri. Amanda was the daughter of my 3 g grandparents Thomas L. Williams and Frankey MURRELL, d late 1800s in Dade Co, buried Shiloh. Daughter Frankie T GUFFEY of Turnback, Dade Co, and Henry C. STAMPER, of Turnback , Dade Co., were married 3 July 1898, by James Irby, J.P. License dated 2 July 1898. Does anyone know anything about the Stampers? I do not find Henry and Frankie, nor any Stampers, in the 1920 census in Dade Co, though there are both a Henry Stamper and R. F. Stamper shown in Smith Township in the 1903 Dade Co Atlas online :: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~judysstuff/dade/atlas.htm The archives for both Dade and Lawrence lists, show only one listing for an Alice Stamper, wife of a Culley, several years ago. Any thoughts appreciated. I am particularly looking for any family of this couple. Thanks in advance, Janet Hunter

    3. Hi: I have seen accounts that Peter Cantrell died at the home of his daughter, Nancy and that he died after 1870 in prob Lawrence Co. I'll have to check through my info and see if I have anything more definite than that. Nancy and William Stockton are in Row 14, (row numbering starts on the east end, the end closest to the church) north side of the drive. Row 14 starts with two stone markers (no names or dates evidently) then Nancy and William, and then a broken marker, so I suppose it could be possible that these unmarked stones could be some of Nancy's family. And there are several unmarked graves in the cemetery. Lynda

Place of burial, Round Grove Cemetery, Lawrence Co., MO. Also buried in Round Grove is John Stockton. I'm assuming that this is the son of W. W. and Nancy Cantrell Stockton. In the Lawrence Co. Historical Society Vol. III cemetery book, it gives 'Old funeral home marker, no dates' In The Miller News-Herald, Dec. 3, 1925, I found this information: "The body of John Stockton was brought to Round Grove for burial Thanksgiving day. He was making his home with a daughter at Sarcoxie. The older residents of Round Grove remember him well.' The Round Grove Cemetery information published by Colleen Belk does not include John Stockton. Lynda West Hahn
