Dorothy, This is an email that I received from you some time ago. Let's compare what you've given me both times (there is new information that I didn't know in this last email), and what I have from my family books. I will bold anything that I can prove (from personal recollection or otherwise noted) in BOLD. So pardon the caps all, I don't know how to go through this any other way. I also know of three or four others on this list following this specific line through David Marshall Courtney or one of his sibilings. I am very excited. My uncle has been researching genealogy for years. He is 70 and hasn't been able to find information about Keziah's family. He has read books, visited the National archives and many cemeteries but he doesn't have a computer so I thought I would see if I could find something for him. I would appreciate any information you have time to share!!!!!!!! Keziah's son Isaac had a child named Claudina Florentine Crawford (she went by Flara). Flara married Loma E. Baker. Their daughter Fernetta Sylvia Baker was my grandmother. My uncle sent me a copy of a picture of Keziah. She is sitting in a chair in front of a two story house. My uncle told me the picture was taken about 1911 on the Crawford Farm near Wagoner (?) Missouri. Two of her daughters (we don't know the names) are standing behind her. The two sisters have matching shirts on! Three of the sister's teenage children are in the picture. We don't know their names either. Keziah's son John A. is in the picture holding a huge corn stalk. John's two children, William and Fannie are in the picture next to a table covered in fruit. Do you have a copy of this picture? We know nothing past Keziah so if you have time to give me the names, birth and deaths of her parents or grandparents that would be wonderful! Also, if you know any stories about her or her family that would be too, too fantastic!! Thank you such for any information!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Re: [MODADE] Keziah Julian and her ancestors
    2. So nice to hear from you... Yes, I know its the same family, and I have a great deal of information on this line. The Julian's were Huegonot, from Vitre, France. Rene' De st Julian fought in the Battle of the Boyne in Ireland, and was paid for his services in land. He and one brother, possibly more, set out for America sometime between 1690 and 1695. I have no proof, but I have reason to believe that Rene was a widower with at least two adult sons at the time. They reached Bermuda, where Rene met Mary Margaret Bullock, a Scottish sea captain's daughter. Rene and Mary Margaret were married there, and they arrived in America between 1695 to 1700. After seeing the wilderness where he'd been given land, he chose to buy it instead, on the coast of the Carolinas, somewhere near the Savannah River, in a Huegont settlement. After two of their children died in an outbreak of yellow fever, they moved north to the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, settling in Bohemia Manor, in Cecil County, Maryland until 1737 when they moved to Frederick County, Virginia. It is believed by most, that both Rene and Mary are buried in the Old Opequion Cemetery, near Winchester, VA, as this land was given to Isaac Julien, who'd married the daughter of William Hoge, who held claim to the land. Crawford born June 27, 1819 in Kentucky, died November 27, 1898 and is buried at Waggner in Cedar County. On February 3, 1843, John married Keziah E. Julian (born in 1826). They filed on land section 14 in Dade County Polktown near his father's place. John served in the 6th MO. Calvary Co A during the Civil War. John and Keziah had seven children, including Cordelia C. Crawford, born 1856, in Dade County. Cordelia married a man by the name of Whiteside and lived in Gray County, Kansas. Their children were Liby and Davis. Keziah's son Franzo(1844-1925) married a woman named Sarah E. Wheeler. Does this sound like the same family? Do you have any information about Keziahs parents? 3. Hi Lori, Here are some suggestions... Be sure to visit the Greenfield Library. It has a great genealogy room. Every time I get a chance to visit I go there. I believe they are open M-F till 5, and maybe till noon on Saturday. As far as places to stay, there is one motel that I would not recommend. 30 miles east of Greenfield is a small town Lamar with a Super 8 and I think a Days Inn. Have fun!
