    3. Jane, You didn't specify a township in your lookup. I looked at Ancestry but they don't have a 1910 census index for Missouri yet. I did find Marshall Courtney and family in the 1920 Dade Co Census, which they do have an index for. I can send you the image if you'd like, just let me know. 2. Dorothy, > 3 dau: Leila Newkirk,(This is my GGmother) Visalia, Ca; > This was posted last week (copy of one of your earlier emails). Which Newkirk did Leila marry, and who were his parents, grandparents, etc. I am looking for connections with descandents of Abraham Taylor Newkirk, particularly my 3g uncle William L. Newkirk who married Anne Mary Belle "Aunt Belle" Marsh, d/o Benjamin James Jordan Marsh and Permelia Williams. I know they had adaughter Cora who married Luther Fortner (and I knew both of them, we visited with them in San Diego when I was growing up). We also visited in Torrance frequently (reunions, etc.) with Roy and Thelma Newkirk. My mother doesn't remember her maiden name. Roy was the son of Elmer and Stella ?? I am also curious where Loyd Newkirk who married Gail Ruark (mother a Fortner), fits in. I don't know how thoroughly you've studied these folks. I can't find William L. and Anne Mary Belle in the 1920 Dade Co census, where my mom is sure they are, but I think they may have lived just over the line in Lawrence Co. Thanks, Janet

    1. [MODADE] New resource
    2. John and Connie Little
    3. Hi list, I have just been informed of a great new resource available for all of us to use. It is called the "City Directories of the United States" project. The goal of this project is to identify all known city directories (whether they're in book form, have been microfilmed, or have been transcribed and published online), their years, and their repositories. For example, the 1852/53 directory of San Francisco is available at the Family History Library, Brigham Young University, and online at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~casanfra/52menu.htm>. Currently, the database has the holdings of the following major repositories: 1) National Archives 2) Library of Congress 3) Family History Library 4) Brigham Young University 5) Alabama Department of History The goal is to eventually list the city directory holdings of all repositories in the United States. Possibly, your local library has a directory that exists nowhere else, or its whereabouts is unknown to other researchers. They would like to add it to the database. To help you submit information, they've provided an extraction form on the web site, just click on the Submit Information link from any page. The site can be found at http://www.uscitydirectories.com/ Hope you can find this useful! John

    1. [MODADE] FRANCe -- Shiloh Cemetery Lookup
    2. Hello Everyone, I recently copied some pages from my Shiloh Cemetery book along with other materials from non-Dade sources, and now can't find it. If anyone out there has a copy, I'd like to know who it identifies as the parents of Charlotty FRANCE Copeland, wife of Charles Calvin Copeland. If memory serves Charlotty is buried there and by her name it mentions the names of her parents. I am trying to put together a puzzle of sorts as Charles' has a first cousin, Franky GUFFEY who married a Henry STAMPER in Dade Co, and I have found France/Stamper connections back in Kentucky. Thanks in advance. Janet Hunter

    3. Jane, I've mentioned that I have a Mabel Courtney, d/o David Jesse Courtney and Sarah Ellen. Have you seen any record of her? One of David Marshall's children (Lora Lee) thinks she remembers something about a baby dying. We have it in our family records, but no other information. Also, do you have any sibilings listed for Sarah Ellen Robinson? And, any other information on Minervia Gillenwater's parents? Thomas and both Mary's? BTW....the last Courtney from David Marshall's line to live in Greenfield was his son Robert Dean Courtney. Many of his children moved to So. California where I'm originally from. After Robert retired from teaching and then Disneyland he moved back to Greenfield. He died a few years back and his wife Kay Courtney moved back to California to be close to her son. Lori ----- Original Message ----- From: Jane Hutchings Sent: Saturday, June 15, 2002 5:11 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MODADE] Courtneys of Dade Co. No, Mary and Minervia were half sister. There father Thomas Gillenwater married 2 women by the name of Mary and both Mary's were cousins. One went by the name of Polly. If you do the 9 month thing David was still alive in Jan of 1887 because Maggie was born in Sept of 1887. They may have travel to visit dad and bought some land, planing on coming back to Dade Co in the next spring. Something most of happen either having the baby or David died, with out having the 1890 census there is no way telling when they actually moved to Dade Co MO. There is no way of knowing why Sarah and possible 2 of her bothers were left in Hawkins Co. Several of Mary Kyle's older children by her first marriage were also left behind, even though there were older. This is not the only family that I have that the parents moved and left some of there children behind with grandparents. It makes you wonder if the 2nd wife like them. ----- Original Message ----- From: "bruce james" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, June 15, 2002 5:39 PM Subject: Re: [MODADE] Courtneys of Dade Co. > Jane, > > Do you think it's coincidence that the Mary Gillenwater Courtney listed below has the same last name of Minervia Gillenwater who listed as Sarah Ellen Robinson's mother?
