    1. Martin Luther Lance

    3. Can anyone help out Dennis with the below email? If so, please email him back at dlance@msdbc.org Thanks, John ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis Lance" <dlance@msdbc.org> To: <littlehouse1@cox.net> Sent: Tuesday, June 14, 2005 12:39 PM I only today found a missing ancestor. The 1860 Dade County Census ( Morgan District ) shows a " Samuel Lance" wife Nancy, and son " Luther ' This is " Samuel Lafayette Lance, born in Buncombe Co. NC, in 1838, to Martin B. Lance. Samuel Lafayette Lance married Nancy Wasson in 1856, in Buncombe County NC. And then migrated to Dade County Missouri. In 1858 their son " Martin Luther Lance " was born. In 1862 ( according to their family bible they buried an infant daughter. This is the last I know anything of Samuel Lafayette and Nancy Lance. They must have died there in Dade County in the mid 1860's since their young son was sent back to Buncombe and raised by his uncles.. These people have been known to me but were lost or missing. I knew that Samuel and Nancy had died early and the Martin Luther was sent home to Buncombe to be raised by his uncles I knew that the death certificate of Martin Luther Lance here in Buncombe listed his birthplace as Missouri, but I just thought that was a mistake,, since he did travel out there often I knew that in letters found That Martin Luther had written back home to his family ( here ) postmarked in Missouri that he had found his mothers family.. ( Wasson ) At any rate-- Martin Luther Lance had a son in Buncombe County -- Garland Brigman Lance--- who had a son Max Garland Lance,, and then ME -- Dennis Max Lance. If there is any information about early Dade County or this family please let me know... Much Thanks Dennis Max Lance ( Buncombe County NC ) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message. 1. Missouri Post-1910 Death Records Project
    2. Lanita Sconce Smith
    3. How can I help the Missouri Post-1910 Death Records Project achieve its goal of providing online access to this collection? Transcribing records from your home The Missouri State Archives sponsors a successful "e-volunteer" program in which volunteers, working from their home, index and transcribe historical records. With the help of “e-volunteers,” the Missouri State Archives plans to post online a database index of nearly two million death certificates from 1910 to 1954. This index will then be linked to a digital image of the death certificate.   Volunteers to this project will be provided photocopies of the death certificate index, transcription instructions, and a spreadsheet template to transcribe these records. A sample of the index to be transcribed is available for viewing in Adobe PDF format.  The index is arranged by year and alphabetically by surname within the year. Because of the size of the project the index has been divided into approximately 50 page sections for transcription.  If you are interested in participating in the Missouri Death Certificate Project, please send the following information to archvol@sos.mo.gov. • Your name • Postal address for mailing the photocopies of the index • Email address • Information on the spreadsheet application (MS Excel, MS Works, etc.) you will use.   Please note that the creation of this electronic index is the first phase of this project and required before the Missouri State Archives can begin the digitization of the death certificates. A date has not been set yet for the release of the database online.
