    1. Benjamin A. Priddy, Smith Twp., Kings Point P.O.
    2. I am seeking information on Benjamin A. Priddy who resided in Smith Twp. of Dade County in the early 1860's. He is listed in the 1860 census as a 39 year old farmer of Virginia nativity. His wife was Nancy J., age 30, and she was born in Missouri as were their children Joseph J. (13), John S. (11), Benjamin F. (6), and Elizabeth F. (4). George W. Lewis, William Sayler (Sailor), and Simeon Terrell were detained by several men near Lime Stone Meeting House southwest of Pennsboro as they were returning to their homes in Lawrence County from Kansas on March 1, 1862. This trio was taken to the Benjamin Priddy place where they were kept under guard over night. The next day Simeon Terrell was released, but William Sayler was murdered. George W. Lewis barely escaped. George Lewis was the stepfather of William Sayler and both men had served in Peter Clark's Independent Cavalry Company of Home Guard from north central Lawrence County in 1861. Six men were indicted by a Dade County grand jury in July 1865 for the Sayler murder. These men were Alfred Bigley, Stephen Hicks, Rufus Hudspeth, Radford Scott, Nicholas H. Choate, and James Bigley, all neighbors of Benjamin Priddy. (Alfred Bigley was the son of James Bigley). However, Priddy was not charged in the Sayler murder. I am seeking information on the whereabouts, possible military service, etc. of Benjamin Priddy during the 1860's. Did he go to Texas as did Hudspeth, Choate, Hicks, and Scott? Thanks. Dale West Longview, TX

I know that your William C. Underwood was not the son of John Underwood and Cynthia Bandy, as their son Taylor Underwood while on trial stated that he knew the Bill Underwood that was lynched, that his brother Bill Underwood also known as BumbleBee was in the Greene County Jail in Springfield. There are newspaper reports that supports this information. Taleah
