Summers, a prominent citizen of this county, died suddenly at his home near Steelville July 15, 1931, from a stroke of paralysis. The seizure took him in his barnyard where he had gone to milk. He was 65 years, 1 month, 2 days old. He is survived by four children by his first wife, nee Hulsey, as follows: George S. and Chas. Summers of Crawford county; Thos. Summers of Kansas City, Ks., ahnd Clyde Summers of Rocky Ford, Col., and by his second wife, nee Tompkins, also by three brothers and one sister, W. P., J. A., and Geo. E. Summers, all living in Crawford county, and Mrs. Maud Orr, who lives in St. Louis. Mr. Summers was a farmer and owned a fine farm near Steelville. He also served 8 years as county clerk. The funeral was held July 17 in Fairview Church. Burial service was by the Masonic order of Steelville.
