Bethany (Woolsey) HOPKINS, widow of William H. HOPKINS married Patrick PHEAY in Crawford Co., MO., 3 January 1869. Their son, Elijah Pheay was born abt. Dec. 1869 since he is listed as as 9/12 yrs. in the 1870 census for Crawford Co.. The census taker called at her home on 23 Aug. 1870. Mr. Pheay was not listed as being in the home. There is a possibility that Mr. Pheay died in an accident while Elijah was a young child. Does anyone have information on this man, documentation of his death, place of burial, parents? Bethany was the father of Levi HOPKINS who was editor of the Crawford County Mirror at the time of his death in 1920. Bethany and William "Blind Bill" HOPKINS" were my gr. gr. grandparents.
