This is an excellent suggestion, and I will try it. In the meantime, I do have info on one James C Edgar: son of James M and Eliza Collins Edgar, married 5 Nov 1837 Cooper Co., MO, and James C Edgar, age 6 born Mo, is found with them on the 1850 census for Cooper Co., MO, with other siblings. James M and Eliza Edgar went on to Santa Fe, NM by the 1860 census. Is this your James C Edgar? If so I do have other info on this James M Edgar family. Nellie Pidcock is the step-daughter of James C Edgar? And she was born Nov. 1878 in Texas? I noticed on the 1870 census that Eliza Pidcock and daughter Nellie were living in Crawford Co.,MO with Eliza's mother and there are living within a few houses of another Edgar family, probably related to James C Edgar. Anyway, if any of this is correct, let me know and I will look into my research. Thanks again, Sharon Edgar Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have researched the line of James C. Edgar who m. Eliza Gibson Pidcock. I am a Pidcock descendant. Are you familiar with this line? I have the newspaper obituary for A. W. Johnson died July 29, 1912 in Los Angeles. He was from Steelville, Missouri and moved to California approximately 23 years previous to his death. Is anyone interested in this? I am happy to scan and share. He was related by marriage to my grandmother's family. Melinda

This is what is in the book, "A History of Sullivan, Missouri and the Bank of Sullivan", Darlene Schatz and Ruth Dace. The Mt. Helicon post offfice was established on July 25, 1856 and Austin Clark was the postmaster. It was located in the Clark Store and stagecoach station. Mt. Helicon was the name of the Jacob Clark farm. The Clark family cemetery, now located on Springfield Road, was a part of that farm. Sullivan had not yet been founded. In 1860, the Mt. Helicon post office was discontinued. On July 24, 1860, a post office was established in Sullivan. Alfred O. Melvin was the postmaster. In the 1890s the post office was in the Clark-Martin store and Carrick Clark was the postmaster. A plat of Sullivan shows that in 1898 the post office was located on Front Street between the Fisher Building and theBennett Building. Between c. 1910 to 1941 it was a section of the larger Fisher Building. I hope this information helps someone.
