    1. [MOCRAWFO] Alex Gregory marries Mary Turnbough
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: memobo Surnames: Gregory, Turnbough, Chandler Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.crawford/2518/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thomas Alexander "Elick" Gregory was married to Mary Turnbough, sister of Dallas Turnbough. I believe Mary was born ca. 1879 and was the daughter of Abner Turnbough. Recently ran into a daughter of Dallas Turnbough who told me her Aunt Mary was buried at Czar Cemetery as were the 3 children she and Alex had together. I had never known Alex to have been married prior to his marriage in 1916 to Anna Chandler. Can anyone give me any assistance with this new info? Marriage license? Obituary? I haven't been able to find Mary or the children by the name of Gregory in Czar Cemetery. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Arthur Tomlinson was b. in England in the 1820s to William/Ann Tomlinson, and had a brother named Robert. They came to the US in 1839, and settled in Dubuque, IA. Ann Ellis Tomlinson was b. ca. 1828 in Saratoga, NY to John and Sarah Adams Ellis. They were from Kent, England. Arthur and Ann are found in Beetown, WI in the 1850 census, in Dubuque, IA in 1860, and Center, Franklin, MO in 1870 with Robert. I lose track of them after that. When I get my notes organized, I can send you more. Do you want to send me an email? Mine is [email protected] Julie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. All posts are correct that the town is now gone, but Delhi Cemetery is where many Chapmans are buried and the small town of Delhi was down the road from the Hofflin. Perhaps this is the cemetery you are searching for. Delhi Cemetery was transcribed and submitted to US Gen Web Archives...here's the link: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/mo/crawford/cemeteries/delhi.txt I do not see Dunbar nor Smith in the transcription, however, the transcription is for "Burials prior to 1930". When I visited Delhi Cemetery, there were many more burials/stones added (lots of Chapman's) since the original transcription. 3. Hofflin Cemetery...I contacted a few former and current residents of the area and have some comments to share. If you are familiar with the area, the directions will be helpful. Hofflin is between Bourbon and Leasburg (Crawford County, MO) on the Old Springfield Road (Old Highway 66), past, but near, the Kruse farm, close to the sharp bend of the road to go to the Graddy's place. It is also "east of the Feedlot restaurant that is now closed". Memories were that there used to be a Hofflin station, store and/or post office but they were "long gone" by the 1960's. Helen Wright surveyed cemeteries in Crawford Co and published a book of those records. Harmon & Helen Wright 406 S. Prairie St. Cuba, MO 65453 (573) 885-9680 Helen also has a quilting/craft shop in Cuba at (573) 885-7153.
