MURRAY Succumbs Suddenly at Her Home Saturday Night. Mrs. Mary T. Murray, 77, died suddenly at her home at midnight Saturday night, May 22. She had apparently been as well as usual but was awakened in the night suffering of a hemmoriage of the lung which caused her death. She summoned and from an Mrs. Elliot who has a room at the Murray home. Mrs. Murray was the daughter of Martha and Harvey Cross and had spent her entire life in Moniteau county where she was born in 1866 with the exception of a short time she had lived in Cole county. For twenty-five years she had lived at the home where she died in the West part of the town. More than sixty-one years ago she was married to John Murray, who died five years ago. In her youth she became a member of the old Presbyterian church in Centertown. She is survived by five daughters and three sons, Mrs. A.R. Houk, Mrs. Arch Garrison, California, Mo.; Mrs. Myrtle Scott, Sedalia; Mrs. Ollie Schrimpshfre and Mrs. Etheny Stevens, Kansas City; Charles, James Marshall (Doc) and Griff Murray of California, Mo. and two step children, Mrs. W.R. Elkins and Willie Murray both of California, Mo. She also leaves several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Bowlin Funeral Parlors Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Jack Hood officiated. Burial was in the City cemetery. _______________________________________ Moniteau County Herald" California, Missouri Thursday, June 3, 1943 page #5, column #3 Sisters Married Same Year, Died Same Week Mrs. Barbara Murray, wife of Griff Murray, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Roll on Main Street, Wednesday, May 26,, 1943. She was born in the Flag Spring neighborhood in 1857. She was married to Griff Murray in 1882. She spent most of her early life under the soter ? care of Mr. and Mrs. James Hume. Her husband had been dead 11 years and she has made her home most of the time since with her daughter, Mrs. Roll, where she died. There are nine children surviving: Harve Murray, Centertown; Mrs. George Roll; Mrs. Louis Baker; Mrs. Ed Garrison; of California; Joe Murray of McBaine; Mrs. Cornelia Lowery, Wichita; Mrs. Emma Hostly, California; Everett Murray and Mrs. Harvey Bardwell, Kansas City. There are 45 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Jack Hood. Mrs. Margaret Murray, a younger sister died four days before. She was born in 1866, and had lived in Moniteau county all of her life. She was married to John Murray in 1882. She is survived by five daughters and three sons: Mrs. A.E. Houk, Mrs. Arch Garrison, California; Mrs. Myrtle Scott, Sedalia; Mrs. Otto Schrimpmire, Sedalia; Mrs. Ethel Stevens, Kansas City; Charles and James Marshal, and Griff Murray.
