L. Cox Tuesday morning September 6, 1921, after an illness of only two weeks caused from typhoid fever. Her maiden name was Martha Ann Johnston. She was born in Cole County, Mo. February 14, 1853, where she spent the most of her days She was married to William Lewis Cox February 20, 1873. To this union six children were born, all boys. Four of whom died in infancy.--Those living are; Asberry Monroe Cox, William Henry Cox, James Ivy Cox and Leonard Waller. She leaves beside her children, an aged father, seven sisters, two brothers and seven grandchildren. Her husband preceded her to the better land 6 years. In 1906 she moved with her family to Morgan County, where she lived until her death. She professed faith in Christ at the age of 40 years and united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cole Co. afterwards changing her membership to the Hopewell Baptist Church of which she was a faithful member until her death. The family thank the neighbors and friends for their kindness and help during her sickness and death. Funeral services were conducted in Hopewell Church by Rev. Maxwell of Fortuna, Mo. after which the remains were laid to rest in Hopewell cemetery by the side of her husband in the afternoon of September 7, 1921. note; parents are Galen Asberry and Rebecca Elizabeth Tipton Johnston
