At the Cole County Historical Society we what I believe is a full set of directories for Jefferson City and I don't think that they go back that far. I checked a book I have of Cole County Marriages and found Mrs. Nannie J. Stafford married Peter J. Comby 1 April 1869. So there was at least one Stafford in Cole County at that time.
