    1. Re: [MOCOLE] Enloe, Leslie Obits and Burial
    2. I am doing and have done much research on all the Leslie(Lasley) family as I am a direct decendant of the first leslie (lasley) and Hutchinson family who came from Ireland and Scotland.. I am reading a book from 1938 on President Andrew Jackson who was a cousin to our Leslie line. Below is some info on William and Margaret Leslie. William and Margaret Leslie come to Missouri in 1835 and settled in Old Cole County now the county of Moniteau. At one time William owned 900 acres. He was the fourth child. He was a farmer and a casket maker. His claim to fame is that he raised 19 children and they all lived to adulthood married and had children. The William Leslie genealogy book is in the Missouri Historical Society in Columbia, MO and Cole County Historical Society in Jefferson City, MO. He raised one foster son and three step children, Ben Hardin, William J. Hardin and Mary Hardin Nance. He was the brother of Margaret Leslie, my great, great grandmother. --------------- . . . . . In the cemetery records of Cole County I found incorrect information. I took a picture of her stone and it is included here. She was born in 1801 according to James Murphy's book on the Leslies and according to her stone that is what I believe. She was 51 years at her death. She was probably born in or around Barren County, KY since that is where William Leslie moved with his parents about 1807 then to Humphreys County, TN in the early 1820's. I can send you a picture of the stones if you like. They are buried in Russelville Cemetery which has been restored by the Dean King volunteer group out of Cole County, Mo. Margaret original stone is there and William's stone has been replaced. There is a family history in The 1838 to 1988 Russellville, Missouri Sesquicentennial book. I see you are a Martin. I have additional information on the Martin's of Morgan County. Are you related to them?
