Missouri's available old newspapers are housed at the State Historical Society of Missouri. They will do a search for a fee, if the date of death is known. _www.umsystem.edu/shs/newspaper.html_ (http://www.umsystem.edu/shs/newspaper.html) There is a list of newspapers on microfilm for all counties in Missouri. Then to submit a request, click on "Research" at the bottom of the page. I don't see a "Jefferson City Democrat" available for 1879, but there are two German newspapers for that time period and the "Daily Tribune".
