    3. Russellville Rustler, Friday,December 6, 1907 Johnnie, the seventeen months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Reed of High Point, was fatally burned on Thanksgiving afternoon while trying to put out a small blaze caused by a match. Cyrus Reed, uncle of the baby was doing some work at the barn where the baby had wandered from the house. Mr. Reed, after lighting his pipe, threw the match to the ground where it set fire to a small bunch of hay. The baby began stomping the fire when its clothes caught on fire, and despite the efforts of its uncle and father was so badly burned that it died three hours later. Dr. Popejoy of High Point was summoned, but to no avail. The father's hands were seriously burned in an attempt to extinguish the flames. Funeral services were conducted at the residence on Friday afternoon and the remains were layed to rest in the Gray Cemetery near that place. Besides a long list of relatives the mother and father and two little sisters mourn the loss of the little one.
