Obituary: The Miller County Autogram, Thursday, March 15, 1934 James Pinkney VanHooser was born May 2, 1858, and departed this life March 1st., being at the time of his death, 75 years, 9 months and 27 days old. He was the youngest son of J.W. and Elizabeth VanHooser. He united with the Bethany Christian Church in Cole County early in life, living a devoted Christian life, making the Bible his main study. He was married November 4th, 1879, to Mary J. VanPool. To this union were born five children, namely Arminta Bell, Parson and John L. VanHooser of Lebanon, Oscar M. VanHooser of Eldon, and Salehta A. VanHooser who died at the age of four years, and Ernest F. VanHooser of Ulman. His wife preceded him in death December 5th, 1892. He was then married to Jane Enloe, November 17th 1895. She preceded him in death September 26th, 1907. He leaves two brothers, Bob VanHooser of Everton and John VanHooser of Springfield, two sisters, Rose Preston of Greenfield and Salehta Cowan of Fresno, Cal. He also leaves 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild to survive him. Funeral services were conducted at the home where Bro. S.P. Cox spoke words of comfort to the sorrowing ones. He was then laid to rest in the Dooley Cemetery.
