Author: S_Sylva Surnames: BROWN ROBINSON ROBISON SAUNDERS COOK Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.cole/1699/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Jemima Brown was the daughter of Annanias and Nancy Brown. Jemima was born in Tennessee in about 1861. Her siblings are Noah Brown, Mary Jane (Brown) Puckett, Danison Brown, Amanda (Brown) Menley, George Leander Brown, Martha Brown, and Tillman Rufus Brown. Note: My line descends from George Leander Brown. >From additional records I have found I think Jemima Brown's first marriage was to a Scott Robinson (a.k.a. Winfield Scott Robison/Robinson)in Cole County Missouri. In particular, I am searching for family of Hattie (Robinson) Cook and Joseph S. Cook (a.k.a. Sidney Cook). I have reason to believe that Hattie Cook is the daughter of Jemima (Brown) Robinson, my Great Aunt. I have traced Hattie (Robinson) Cook through census records from 1900 through 1930. I have also found a Social Security Death Index record for a Hattie Cook, born May 1883 and died January 1968 (age 85 at time of death), which matches with the census records I have found. The additional fact that Hattie Cook and her brother Harley Robinson appear together on 3 of the 4 census records would indicate a family relationship also. The following census records outlined below is where I base my assumptions: 1900 - COLE COUNTY MISSOURI (MARION TOWNSHIP) CENTERTOWN SAUNDERS William S (Head) Age 25 (Born Mar 1875) West Virginia (occupation-Painter) SAUNDERS Gemima (Wife of head) Age 39 (Born Jun 1861) Tennessee ROBISON Hattie (Stepdaughter) Age 17 (Born May 1883) Missouri ROBISON Arvilla (Stepdaughter) Age 16 (Born Apr 1884) Missouri ROBISON Crota? (Stepdaughter) Age 15 (Born Jul 1885) Missouri ROBISON Auretta? (Stepdaughter) Age 13 (Born Feb 1887) Missouri ROBISON Myrtle (Stepdaughter) Age 9 (Born Jun 1891) Missouri ROBISON Harley (Stepson) Age 8 (Born Apr 1892) Missouri Notes: William Saunders and Gemima (Jemima) (Brown) (Robinson) Saunders were newly married in 1900 (since number of years of present marriage is 0) 1910 - MONITEAU COUNTY (WALKER TOWNSHIP) COOK Sidney J. (Head) Age 31, Born Missouri Occupation-Farmer COOK Hattie (Wife of Head) Age 27, Born Missouri COOK Ester (Daughter) Age 5, Born Missouri COOK Murrell (Son) Age 2, Born Missouri ROBINSON Harley (Brother-in-law of head) Age 18, Born Missouri Notes: Hattie and Sidney were married for 9 years (Marriage year 1901). In 1900 Hattie was the mother of 5 children, with 2 children still alive in 1900. Evidently 3 of their children were deceased in 1900. 1920 - HOWARD COUNTY ARKANSAS (SULPHUR SPRINGS) COOK Joseph S. (Head) Age 43, Born Missouri, Occupation Farmer COOK Hattie (Wife of head) Age 36, Born Missouri COOK Esther (Daughter) Age 15, Born Missouri COOK Murrell (Son) Age 12, Born Missouri COOK Joseph H. (Son) Age 8, Born Missouri COOK Lucy (Daughter) Age 3, Born Missouri 1930 COOPER COUNTY MISSOURI (BOONVILLE) COOK Joseph S. (Head) Age 52, Born Missouri, Occupation Laborer odd jobs COOK Hattie G. (Wife of head) Age 46, Born Missouri COOK Lucy T. (Daughter) Age 14, Born Missouri COOK Joseph H. (Son) Age 18, Born Missouri COOK Bettie M. (Daughter) Age 4 yrs/11 months COOK Sarah F. (Mother of head), Age 75, Born Arkansas COOK Jesse A. (Brother of head), Age 46, Born Missouri ROBINSON Harley (Brother-in-law of head) Age 38, Born Missouri Notes: Hattie was 18 years old and Joseph was 23 years old when they married. Therefore, their marriage year can be fixed about 1901. Harley Robinson is listed as being single. If anyone has information on these BROWN, ROBINSON or COOK families please contact me. This is my brick wall. Thank you in advance Sandy (Brown) Sylva Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Peggy Smith Hake has been researching and writing about Miller County people since 1975. She has given permission to use much of her work on the Miller County Historical Society web site www.millercountymuseum.org <http://www.millercountymuseum.org/> . We have just posted a huge group of her thumbnail biographies and are in the process of gathering photographs to add to the stories. Since there is overlap in the genealogy of Cole and Miller Counties, I am posting this notice here for anyone who is interested. Her material is located under "Publications", "Window to the Past".
