Hi, I am a new subscriber and am researching the Daniel LINDSEY, b. 1823 KY, line for a friend. Daniel was the son of Javis/Jaly LINDSEY and Elizabeth MIDDAUGH and is found in the 1850 census. That's the last I find him, but his family are found in nearby Caldwell Co. in 1860 . Elizabeth remarried. Any help in finding Javis/Jaly's parentage, etc., is appreciated. Many Thanks!! Lanita

I've recently done some research on the old log New Harmony Church, and the role of Colonel Levi Williams, and the Militia Under His Command, in the Expulsion of the Mormons from Hancock County, Illinois, in 1845 and 1846. The Old Carthage Jail where matters came to a head in 1844, is located just two blocks from my office/library, so I have included a digital photo of the old jail in my article. This article may be seen by going to the following website and clicking on the link at the top of our home page: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html After nearly a year of careful study, I've finished the above article, but I still welcome questions, comments, corrections, or additional information, to help me improve it. The article includes the names of over 400 men who composed several companies of the Illinois Militia in western Hancock County. I would like to learn more about the men in these militia companies. Included with the article are extensive reference lists, showing the material I used in writing the article, which I hope might be helpful to others, even if they do not agree with me. I did not have the 1870 census for them. I found the family in 1860 and 1880, but don't have access to 1870. The cemetery books showed the date of Feb 7,1867 for Zerilda. I know that she was dead by at least 30 Oct 1873 as reported in estate papers of her father, Henry Hall, in Jackson Co., TN. John H was given a guardian's bond for the children in Plattsburg on 12 Jul 1875. There was also a child, Tyree Trice Anderson, listed in the Log Cemetery as son of J.H and M (Mourning). His dates were Mar 15, 1872 - Mar 17, 1878. So Zerilda may have died as early as 1871. I can't explain the 1867 date in the cemetery book. I'm trying to figure out how Matthew Anderson relates to my Anderson family in Jackson Co., TN. Some of their records were intermingled with those of my family in the loose court papers of Jackson Co., but can find no direct relationship. Perhaps some of their descendants will be able to help someday. Thanks again for your help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
