His father was also named Ethelbert, and his mother is believed to be Harriot Gibbons. Any information would be welcomed. E.D. Halfmann lived in Montgomery, Alabama during the Civil War, and he had a diary that was written in 1863, which is in the possession of his great grandson's widow. I transcribed the diary, so if anyone is interested in a copy, I have it. Thanks so much. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There is one site for North West Missouri counties that has a listing of cemeteries, some with photos here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~familycollecting/ I did a search for McClelland and Hemple, and only found one hit: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~familycollecting/NWMissouri/databases/monrecv5.htm If you search for MC CLELLAND on this page, you'll find an entry for a headstone that was delivered to the Hemple Cemetery for: Aramintha wife of P.F. McClelland ~ Died Mar 30, 1892. I know this isn't who you're exactly looking for, but it may be a relative. Hope that helps some.. He was the second of two police officers. I don't know if this your Harry Brown or not. The police chief died a few years ago, so I can't refer you to him. Perhaps the "city hall" in Gower would have a record of his service? If not, maybe Sue Ellen Rose or one of her family members would have access to the chief's (Les Gerdes) old papers. She would be some sort of in-law to Les, I believe. "Brownie" was no longer a police officer in Gower after about 1972. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
