He is buried in the old Lebanon Cemetery south of Stewartsville, Mo. I have pictures of his gravesite also his wife. My gr.gr.grandfather, Benjamin Allen O'Banion was first married to Susan McCulley of Stewartsville, and she passed away in 1866 and he married Christiann Laffoon, daughter of Peyton. Susan is buried in Old Presbyterian Cemetery of Stewartsville. I am now trying to locate Benjamin Allens father William O'Banion. Was born around 1800 in South Carolina or Va. If you would have any information I would be more than happy to share this information with you. Ellen Eckstein Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was raised in NW Missouri and had a first cousin Pauline. I believe her father's name was Richard. My grandfather's name was Charlie Jenkins and grandmother was Ruth Daniel Jenkins. They divorced when my dad was around 8 years old. I remember by dad and his cousin Pauline corresponding occasionally, and as far as I can remember she was his only cousin that he mentioned. I never met my grandfather. Does any of this sound like Pauline could be my dad's cousin. My dad also died in 1996 and he 86 years old. This is not quite true. Am not sure why, but the death of my grandfather's sister is among the death certificates and she died in the 1870's, as a child. I've wondered if they were tracking a disease or diseases? Or maybe because she was being seen/treated by a doctor when she died? ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <MOCLINTO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 12, 2010 12:48 PM Subject: Re: [MOCLINTO] stephen ferrell died in clinton, henry, missouri in 1877, need help > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: ThomasKer2 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.clinton/1684.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I'm not related to this family. > > Birth & Death records for Missouri began in 1910 - > > Facts you should know about the early census records - > All census records prior to the 1850 census ONLY listed the head of > household; whether male or female. > > NO specific age was stated for any family member > NO place of birth was stated - city, state, or country > NO city, town, or village is stated - only the county; however some census > takers listed the township > NO street address was stated > NO marital status was stated - single, married, widowed, or divorced > NO family relationship was stated - brother, sister, cousin, son, > daughter, wife, inlaw, etc. > NO occupation was stated > NO parental birthplaces are stated > NO race was stated [but assume "white"] > > 1850, 1860 & 1870 census records do not show family relationships or > parental birthplaces. > > Step children are not enumerated as "step" children > Adopted children are not enumerated as "adopted" > Grand children are not enumerated as "grand children" > > 1850 is the 1st census that shows all family members > > 1880 is the 1st census that shows parental birthplaces > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I took note as I have recently researched Jesse James. I read the book, My Father, Jesse James, by Jesse Jr. In it, he mentioned, I believe, that Frank admitted to killing Westfall during the robbery. I think Jesse Jr was told this by Cole Younger. This book is in Mid Continent Libraries. I also found an old Cameron MO newspaper article that reported holding Jesse's body, (while removing it to Kearney for burial) in the same railroad car that had previously held the body of William Westfall. Sometime toward the end of his life, Frank was put on trial in Gallatin MO, the town just east of the holdup at Winston. He was somehow exhonerated. I would imagine the killing of Mr. Westfall was brought up in that trial. There is information out there on that trial. I found this very interesting. Just thought I would share.
