    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Field Fields Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hMB.2ACI/880.1.1 Message Board Post: Yes, and thank you. It is hard to say if the line at the end of Field is a comma, a stray mark, or the end of a an s where the ink skipped. I had found a James E. Field in Clay Co., but with a land grant dated 3/1/1860, this would likely be a grandfather(?), 49 years having passed plus the age 21 to get a grant. Then in 1880 in Clay Co. there is a Joseph E. Field age 23 son of Joseph F. Field, but I so far only have the roll and page from an online index (T9-681, p.390D). I have not gotten to a set of Census microfilm to check any of this. But a candidate for Mr. J.E. Field. I also found a Joseph & Mary (no middle initials) Fields in Excelsior Springs City Ward 1 in the 1900 Clay Co. census, but have no idea yet if / how this might relate to Morse Ave. I suspect that Mary Elizabeth falls in that gray area of the 1890 census - she could easily have been born, married, and moved away to Arkansas in the period of 1880 to 1900.
