I have come across GROOM(no S) in searching for our MALOTT family members in Clay County, but don't have the exact references. Check the Little Shoal Cemtery index in the MOGenWeb Archives page for Clay County: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mo.clay/clay.htm . Also in the the 1877 Illustrated Historical Atlas there is a John S. Groom, Sheriff, and three different Groom names on land in Towship 53 & 51, North Range 31 West: A. Groom, J. Groom in sections 33 & 34, and M. A. Groom in Sections 3 and 4. There are probably more. I don't have the index, but someone is sure to.
