I have a couple of what if's to throw in to the pot... My gggrandfather was William H. Arnold, he came out to the area you are describing, as I understand it, with his two uncles -- Lewis and Thomas and their families, and with his aunt Nancy, m. Rev. William Rice, who preached at Little Shoal Church. William's mother was Susannah Hughes, daughter of Rowland Hughes, and her sister Betsy was married to the Thomas mentioned above. So, I am curious now to know if perhaps some Hughes cousins came out to the area at the same time. I know Lewis first came out from Woodford KY in about 1827, and I know that they all claimed homesteads about 1837. I am curious about the "Arnold / Blue Eagle" you mentioned. Where exactly was that?
