Hello MoClay Listers, Thanks LaRae for the good answer. I will also say that I do report the spammers to Rootsweb, as they have built a pretty good wall against spammers. However, spammers are sneaky and change email addresses and tactics in order to get through. We all try to keep junk mail out but it is not 100% perfect. Grit your teeth and hit the delete key and know that we do try to keep the lists on topic. --------------------------------------------- Angie Anthony Kansas City, MO angieant@swbell.net MOClay List Administrator ----- Original Message ----- From: <TimeTrvlrO@aol.com> To: <MOCLAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 07, 2003 11:07 AM Subject: Re: [MOCLAY] Advertising on list > This is the only downside of having the gateway opened to the county message > board...all posts made to it are automatically forwarded to the mailing list. > > > The poster to the message board does not have to be a subscriber to the list, > so occasionally a spammer figures he can post his message for other visitors > to the board, and most likely doesn't know he is also reaching everyone on a > mailing list as well. > > The only alternative is to close off the gateway, but then you'd loose a > great deal of valuable info just to ward off that occasional spammer.
