    3. Have the postings on November 26, 2003 , about Gladstone city plans for Big Shoal Cemetery brought any results? Does anyone know of a central collection point for information leading to protection of the cemetery? I replied to Mike Rice, the writer of the KC Star article copied, and I forwarded the posting to an Atkins descendant with an interest in the cemetery, but don't know what the status of plans is now, January 1, 2004. I have a particular interest in the cemetery as my great grandparents, Daniel and Minerva BROWN (nee MALOTT) are buried there, and nearby are her parents, Samuel White MALOTT and Nancy MALOTT (nee HYMER). The latter are among the earliest Clay County residents, having come with their own parents in the 1830s. Samuel Malott's land in 1877 was north of the cemetery; part of it is apparently now Happy Rock Park. When I visited the cemetery in 2000 I understood that it had been maintained by the Clay County Historical Society, but Mike Rice's article says that no one officially looks after it now, the basic maintenance being done by two volunteer neighbours. I live far away, but will be in Kansas City next week and wonder if there is anything I can do. A phone number was listed for Gladstone; is there an e-mail address for someone responsible there? Hope someone can help. Sylvia Wees
