My Great-grandfather: John Madison WILKINSON was born 1837. [s/o Jeremiah "Jerry" Wilkinson & Miss Fox] He married # 1 Lourina WALLACE 1862 in Napa, Sonoma Co., CA. He married # 2 Hettie Ann STUBBLEFIELD 1879, daughter of Absolom B. STUBBLEFIELD and Nancy Jane HARRIS. She was born 10 NOV 1862 in Knights Valley, Sonoma Co., CA, and died 30 JAN 1941. As a young wife Hettie Ann Stubblefield helped her husband make a home on a 100 acre rancho at LaGraciosa, now called Orcutt, Santa Barbara Co., CA. * * * * * In the 1810 Madison County Kentucky census we find a William Wilkinson who could be the father of "our" William b: 1780ish. But is gone in the 1820 census; There is a William Wilkinson in MO. Lincoln county Crab Orchard census. who we think could be William b: 1780ish? 1820 Lincoln County Kentucky Census Crab Orchard page 49 (only odd number pages-even #'s had slaves) Wilkinson, Lydia (mom of Wm.below)- 2 males 18-26; 1 female 16-26; 1 female over 45.[self] page 51 - about 7 families away Wilkinson, Will (Lydia's son)- (our Patriarch? b: c. 1780) 1 male under 10; Jeremiah b:1810 Crab Orchard, Rock Castle Co., KY 1 male 10-16; 1 male 18-26; 1 male 26-45; (self) (b:c. 1775-1794) 2 females 10-16; 1 female 16-26; 1 female 26-45. [Miss Cahorn b: (?) d: by 1826(?)] If this is our William b: 1780ish, then there are other full siblings to Jeremiah Wilkinson b: 1810. And remember the family story that William had two brothers. (& maybe two-three sisters, by looking at what could be his mother Lydia and family listed above.?) One of William's brothers was said to be a Doctor and also one of Jeremiah's half-brother's went to Ohio to study to be a Dr. John Wilkinson [s/o William Wilkinson X Unknown wife] graduated in medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio. He married Angela Oliver there and moved to Lexington, MO in 1847 where he became a farmer. He died of pneumonia in 1858. William b: c 1780 had a brother who was a doctor [in Ohio ?] and so perhaps John Wilkinson s/o William Wilkinson X Unknown wife went to live with the uncle to study medicine....lots of times they studied with a Dr as an apprentice and then took a test to get their license. My search is for the parents and siblings of WILLIAM WILKINSON b: c. 1780, who we place in Crab Orchard, [Lincoln Co./Rock Castle Co.,] 1810 for the birth of his first child. The next time we place him in MO 1837 for the birth of my Great-grandfather John Madison Wilkinson. I have noticed two possible cadidates as father for our William Wilkinson b: c.1780 in the information in KY: (1) JOHN WILKINSON Early Kentucky Landowners 1787-1811Lincoln County etc.............John Wilkinson list......... the lists goes thru 1811 in Lincoln county. (2) WILLIAM WILKINSON 1810 Madison County Kentucky census we find a William Wilkinson. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
