Born February 27, 1908 at Henry, Illinois, she was the daughter of Asa and Clara Wable Stevenson. She married Ernest Humes May 26, 1928 at Macomb, Illinois. He survives. Also surviving are five sons, LaVerne E ., Wyaconda, Joseph H., Wyaconda, Alfred L., Luray, Ernest L., Wyaconda and James L of New London, Iowa, three daughters, Mrs. Patricia A Varnold of Keokuk, Iowa, Dora E Fogle of Memphis and Mary J Collier of Arbela, one sister, Mrs. Anna Lavelle, New London, Iowa, three brothers, John Stephenson, Drakesville, Iowa, Garwood and Gilbert, both of Glendale, Arizona, 23 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and two grandchildren. Mrs. Humes was a member of the First Christian Church of Wyaconda, Christian Women's Fellowship of the Church, and the Tuesday Club of Wyaconda. Services were at 2pm Thursday at the Wyaconda Christian Church with the Rev David Vaughn officiating. Interment in Wyaconda Cemetery. Arrangements by Karle-Shaffer.
